Born Survivor Bear Grylls - Patigonia
by
Discovery Channel
Bear Grylls is no stranger to extremes. As one of the youngest people to climb Everest and one of the few to successfully complete the gruelling training for the French Foreign Legion, he has experienced intense cold, pain and exhaustion. But now he’s up against something a bit different. Born Survivor puts Bear in situations that could happen to anybody, anytime and proves how easy it is to be caught by surprise in life and death situations.
A 2 Hour feature length special that opens with Bear parachuting on to a treacherous ice field in Southern Patagonia – one of the largest expanses of ice in the world. He demonstrates the survival techniques needed to withstand avalanches and hangs in the jaws of an ice crevasse. To escape a snowstorm, Bear takes shelter for the night in a snow cave, before paragliding spectacularly from the mountain range, into the beech forest below. Picking his way through the challenging terrain of the Patagonian tundra, Bear grubs around for worms and beetles to eat. He tackles a frozen bog and attempts to sail a makeshift raft across an icy lake.
Other DVDs in the series take Bear to the darkest jungles of Panama and the scorching heat of the Sahara desert. This is a series of tough challenging environments where having the right skills and knowledge can mean the difference between life and death.
